NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group to commission a new patient transport service

NHS North Lincolnshire CCG is to commission a new patient transport service.

Thames Ambulance Service Ltd (TASL) began providing non-emergency patient transport (PTS) in North Lincolnshire in October 2016 and the CCG has been working closely with them for a number of months to address ongoing performance issues. The Care Quality Commission has also required TASL to improve in a number of areas.

While we have seen improvements in performance as a result of this work, our patients are still continuing to experience difficulties with the service provided. As a result NL CCG has served notice to TASL advising them we intend to commission a new service.

PTS exists to support people to get to and from hospital when they are too poorly or are otherwise physically unable to manage the journey themselves. We are disappointed to have reached this position, however it is extremely important to us that our local population receive good care.

We will continue to work closely with TASL to ensure the service to patients is not affected and that people working for the organisation in North Lincolnshire are kept informed and fully supported to ensure a smooth transition to a new service.

At present patients should continue to book transport through TASL using the published telephone numbers. Once the CCG has awarded a contract to a new provider, the CCG and the provider will undertake further communications with patients and the public.
