‘Equality is ensuring individuals or groups of individuals are treated fairly and equally and no less favourably, specific to their needs.’
‘Diversity aims to recognise, respect and value people’s differences to contribute and realise their full potential by promoting an inclusive culture for all.’
NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) believes in fairness and equity, and above all values diversity in all matters as a commissioner of health services, and as an employer.
From 1 April 2013, the CCG is an NHS organisation responsible for commissioning the majority of healthcare services for its local population. We are committed to eliminating any form of discrimination and aim to commission services that are accessible, delivered in a way that respects the needs of each individual whilst being inclusive to everyone.
Our Equality and Diversity Plan reinforces these commitments and is the first step in outlining our approach to equality and diversity, whilst ensuring compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998. It highlights the national and local drivers that will shape and influence our approach to promoting equality in our commissioning decisions and valuing the diversity of service users and employees.
You can read our Annual Equality & Diversity Report 2014-15 by clicking here.
We have identified the following equality objectives following analysis and assessment, including NHS Equality Delivery System Assessment:
Increase input from representatives of the protected groups in the commissioning process and ensure systems are in place to embed equality in all our commissioning decisions.
Ensure that appropriate equality and diversity initiatives are taken forward within the current year’s work plan.

Stonewall Healthcare Equality Index
We are committed to eliminating any form of discrimination and aim to commission services that are accessible and delivered in a way that respects the needs of each individual whilst being inclusive to everyone. To help us assess how well we are currently working in this area, we have decided to take part in the Stonewall Healthcare Equality Index, a tool that is used to evaluate our services on sexual orientation equality.
As part of this, we asked lesbian, gay and bisexual patients, families and carers who use GP and other health services in North Lincolnshire about their experiences of these services. The survey has now closed and our assessment has been submitted. Thank you for your support with this important assessment to help us improve equality for all.
