CCG Assurance Framework

The Assurance Framework is produced by NHS England and is designed to give assurance to the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) it is delivering quality outcomes for patients. This is both locally and as part of the national standards, as well as being the basis for assessing whether the CCG is continuing to improve its performance since its authorisation in April 2013.Out of necessity the scorecard therefore looks at both the organisation’s performance and the health of the local population.

Core Elements of the Assurance

The assurance process consists of 3 main elements:

  • Delivery – ensuring that the CCG is delivering the full range of outcomes and standards for the local population as agreed in its commissioning plan
     
  • Capability – ensuring that the CCG is set up to serve patients and communities effectively, both now and for future generations.  This includes making sure as an organisation it has the required skills and knowledge, and is exhibiting the appropriate behaviours
     
  • Support – determining the nature and level of support a CCG needs to be a great commissioner.
